TWO men were arrested, and a large cache of drugs and firearms was seized in Tobago on Monday. The haul included marijuana and cocaine valued at an estimated TT$42.2 million.
The operation was led by the Tobago Division Task Force under the direction of ACP Subero and Snr. Supt. Elie. Key officers involved included Sgt. Taylor, Cpl Guy, PC Lynch, PC De Freitas, PC Jack, along with support from the Canine Branch and Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
During the operation, officers intercepted a pirogue carrying two men. A thorough search of the vessel uncovered 231.7 kilogrammes of cannabis, 13 kilogrammes of cocaine, a Beretta M12 pistol with three magazines, a Glock 17 pistol with a magazine, a Glock 19 pistol with a magazine, and 167 rounds of assorted ammunition.
The suspects, hailing from Marabella and Buccoo, were taken into custody in connection with the seizure. This operation marks a substantial victory in the fight against drug trafficking in the region.
