5 Arrested in Pleasantville, Tobago

FIVE persons were arrested and a firearm and quantity of ammunition were seized during ongoing anti-crime exercises conducted in the Southern and Tobago Divisions on Monday night.

In the first exercise, officers of the St Margaret’s Police Station conducted an operation around 11.30 pm based on information received about persons said to be armed with guns in the Pleasantville district.

The officers subsequently arrested a 33-year-old Pleasantville man for possession of one Beretta pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition.

Two other suspects, a woman of La Brea and a man of Corinth Hills, were also held during the exercise.

Meanwhile, in the Tobago Division, officers of the Scarborough Police Station conducted an exercise between 3 pm and 7.35 pm which also involved personnel of the Criminal Investigations Department and Tobago Divisional Task Force.

During the exercise, the officers, acting on information, arrested a 21-year-old male suspect, in connection with reports of Robbery with Violence, Common Assault, Malicious Wounding and Possession of Ammunition.

A second man, a 19-year-old of Mt St George, was held in connection with reports of Larceny in a Dwelling House and House Breaking and Larceny.
