The post stated: “On Wednesday September 25th, 2024 consequent upon the resignation of Senator Laurel Lezama-Lee Sing, the President, Her Excellency Christine Kangaloo ORTT, on the advice of Prime Minister Dr the Hon Keith Rowley, appointed Mr Ancil Dennis as a Government Senator.

“Mr Dennis is a former Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).”

Her resignation follows reports of an interim court-issued protection order filed by her estranged husband Daren Lee Lee-Sing. The order was made public on September 24.

The Express newspaper also reported on Thursday that Lezama-Lee-Sing had reached out to the prime minister through her attorneys, urging him not to terminate her position as a senator.

However, the statement from the Office of the Prime Minister confirmed only her resignation without addressing the appeal.

Lee-Sing has strongly denied the allegations of domestic violence, describing them as unfounded and stating her innocence.

In response to the public dissemination of the court order, her legal team has taken action. They have issued a pre-action protocol letter to social media blogger Rhoda Bharath, who shared part of the order and facilitated discussions on her Facebook page, Newsauce.

Additionally, attorneys from Hove and Associates are said to be preparing a similar letter for a media outlet involved in the publication.
