POLICE say several people are assisting them with the investigation of the robbery of Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh in his constituency on Tuesday.
In a release on Wednesday, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that it was actively investigating a robbery involving Deyalsingh who is also the Member of Parliament for St Joseph. The incident occurred outside Nyahbinghi’s bar.
According to reports, Deyalsingh, 66, was sitting outside a bar on King Street around 4.55 pm when two men approached him, one brandishing a firearm. The gunman allegedly pointed the weapon at Deyalsingh’s head and announced a robbery, seizing a gold-colored bracelet before fleeing in a green vehicle.
Several individuals were assisting police with their inquiries, the release stated. The St Joseph Criminal Investigations Department is leading the investigation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police for Intelligence and Investigations, Suzette Martin, condemned the attack, assuring the public that efforts are underway to swiftly apprehend the suspects.
