FOUR men are detained and are assisting police in their investigation into a gun and ammunition find.
Around 7.30 pm on Tuesday, the South Western Division, Emergency Response Patrol officers were on mobile patrol in the Oropouche district when they received information which led to them stopping a Burgundy Toyota Corolla along Aripero Village, South Oropouche.
Officers had cause to search the vehicle and discovered a black and silver pistol with a magazine and five rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition, the officers enquired from the men if they were holders of FUL or FUEC or exempted under Section 7 of the Firearm Act and they replied, no.
A further search of the vehicle unearthed a pair of registration plates. The men, ages 21 to 32, of La Romain and South Oropouche, were arrested for Possession of Firearm and Ammunition and taken to the Oropouche Police Station for processing.
