bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) and EOG Resources Trinidad Limited (EOG) have announced a partnership to jointly develop the Coconut gas field off the southeast coast of Trinidad in the Columbus Basin.
The field, discovered by bpTT in 2005 at a water depth of 260 feet, will be developed as a 50/50 joint venture, with EOG taking on the role of operator, according to a release from bpTT on Monday.
A final investment decision has been reached by both parties, with the first gas production anticipated by 2027. This collaboration marks a significant step in bpTT’s strategy to expand its gas business and enhance the energy landscape of Trinidad and Tobago, the release stated.
David Campbell, president of bpTT, said, “This collaboration allows us to accelerate production from the Coconut field and advance our other projects like the Ginger field development. Our focus remains on achieving high-margin growth while delivering substantial value to bp and the nation.”
