ONE day after police said they made a breakthrough with crime in Tobago, a jewellery store was robbed by two armed men.
Caribbean Jewellers at the Lowlands Mall in Tobago was the target of a robbery just before 11 am on Wednesday.
Two masked men entered and announced a hold-up.
A 29-second video shared via social media showed two masked bandits wearing construction hats and safety jackets.
One of the bandits was seen kicking and stamping the security guard on his head. Investigators said some of the jewellery was found in a track nearby.
In a release on Tuesday, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated, “Police have struck a major blow against crime in Tobago, as two key suspects who are incarcerated prisoners were charged under the Anti- Gang Act, following intensified operations and intelligence-led exercises.
“Two others were also detained, facing serious charges for possession of narcotics and ammunition. This marks a powerful step forward to curb the recent uptick in criminal activity on the sister isle.”
