POLICE kill six alleged bandits on Wednesday in Freeport.
Investigators say they were responsible for home invasions and robberies in the Central area over the past two months.
Among the people fatally shot was a 15-year-old girl.
Police said their latest robbery was that of a Couva man at his home around 9 am that same day.
Officers went to a house at Mission Road and the occupants opened fire on them, in accordance with the Use of Force Policy, the officers returned fire. Six were fatally shot and police recovered three guns at the house.
The incident occurred around 11.25 am and the bodies were carried to the Couva Health Centre in two police vehicles covered with white sheets.
At the health facility, relatives told the media that they weren’t allowed to view the bodies.
One person said she knew one of the men whose mother worked in a roti shop in Atlanta in the US and that he “was taken care of.”
