WASA Starts Works: 500K Without Water

THE Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) has started its maintenance works along the Caroni North and South transmission pipeline network.

A release on Friday stated that the works began that same day and is expected to be completed at 12 noon on Sunday.

It stated that the works to be undertaken include critical electrical maintenance at the Plant, along with ancillary works along the Caroni North and South transmission pipeline network.

About 500,000 customers in the north, central and southern parts of Trinidad including Cocorite, Cascade, Port of Spain, Morvant, Barataria, San Juan, St Augustine, Chaguanas, Penal and Fyzabad will be affected.

WASA noted that following the restart of the Plant, the supply to most affected areas was expected to be restored over a 24 to 48-hour period, in accordance with established supply schedules. 

It stated, “However, some customers at the extremities of the distribution system, particularly at the furthest areas in South Trinidad, may experience longer delays in having their service restored.

“The Authority has increased its water trucking capacity to assist in meeting the increased demand over this period and will maintain this trucking capacity until the pipe borne service is fully restored.” The truck borne service can be requested through the following self-service options:

• Use of the mobile WASA Services App which can be downloaded for Android

mobile customers from the Play Store or iPhone mobile customers from the Apple store; or

• Use of the Customer Portal available on the Authority’s website: www.wasa.gov.tt
