Police Find Wooden Shotgun in Bathroom

TWO people were arrested and three firearms, along with ammunition, were seized by police in the North Eastern, Central, and South Western Divisions over the past 72 hours.

Between 8.50 pm and 11.30 pm on Monday, members of the North Eastern Division Task Force, the North Eastern Division Gang Investigation Unit, and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force conducted a joint operation in the vicinity of Dorata Street, Morvant a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service stated on Tuesday.

During the operation, officers stopped and searched a man, finding a Glock 22 pistol fitted with a selector and a magazine containing 13 rounds of .40 calibre ammunition. The firearm was seized, and the man from Success Village was arrested and taken to the San Juan Police Station pending further enquiries.

Additionally,  around 11 pm on Saturday, officers in the Central Division were on mobile patrol when they responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at Edinburgh 500.

Upon arrival, the officers spoke with a man from the area and conducted a search of his person, discovering a firearm with nine rounds of ammunition. The items were seized, and the 29-year-old man was arrested and taken to the Chaguanas Police Station.

On Tuesday, around 9 am in the South Western Division, officers from the Siparia Criminal Investigation Department were engaged in an anti-crime operation when they received credible intelligence and went to Allum Street, Siparia Old Road, where they searched an abandoned structure. 

In the bathroom area, they found a black garbage bag containing a wooden shotgun. The item was seized and taken to the Siparia Police Station.
