MORVANT police unearthed the body of a 73-year-old man found buried under his own house.
According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Wednesday, the body of Levi Richards was found at Poinsettia Drive, Coconut Drive, Morvant, on Tuesday.
Police received information of a body being buried and an exercise was spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Edwards, Superintendent Birch, ASP Callender in conjunction with Senior Superintendent Dhilpaul and ASP Victor of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations.
Around 5.30 pm on Tuesday, a coordinated team led by Insp. Sylvester, alongside members of the Homicide Region 2 Office and the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF), conducted an operation at the residence under construction.
The officers proceeded to the ground floor, which was covered with dirt, and discovered what appeared to be a grave.
A body was exhumed and was identified as Richards who resided at the same address.
The District Medical Officer attended the scene, officially declared the death, and ordered the removal of the body to the Forensic Science Centre in St James for a post-mortem examination.
One male suspect was arrested and taken to the Arouca Police Station.
