A GUANAPO man shoots one of two armed men who pointed guns at him in his garden on Sunday.
Officers attached to the Northern Division, arrested the suspect involved in a robbery and shooting incident and seized a firearm and ammunition on Sunday.
According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service on Monday, the victim reported that at around 7.45 am, he was at his garden at La Retreat Road, Heights of Guanapo, when he was approached by two men one armed with a pistol and the other with a rifle.
Both suspects pointed their weapon at him and announced a robbery, the victim then drew his licensed fire when of the suspects allegedly fired a shot at him and he returned fire, wounding the suspect in his leg.
The other assailant allegedly ran away from the scene. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a suspect with a gunshot injury to his leg.
The officers found and took possession of a 9-mm pistol with a magazine containing 15 rounds of 9-mm ammunition, an extended pistol magazine containing twenty-six rounds of 9-mm ammunition, and a rifle magazine with 26 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Arima Health Facility for medical treatment.
