Butler, Pennsylvania – FORMER US President Donald Trump was abruptly rushed off stage during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after loud bangs were heard, causing panic among attendees on Saturday.
Blood was seen on the right side of Trump’s face. He was immediately surrounded by Secret Service agents and rushed off stage, not be before raising his hands in the air to supporters.
US media are reporting that a shooter who was on a nearby roof was “neutrelised” by the Secret Service.
Media also reported that one spectator was dead and another seriously injured.
Trump, the leading Republican presidential contender, was addressing a packed crowd. Witnesses reported seeing Trump drop to the ground, and there were visible signs of distress as what appeared to be blood was seen on the side of his face. Trump managed to raise a fist into the air as he was swiftly escorted off stage by his security team.
Immediate concerns about Trump’s condition were alleviated by a statement from his campaign, assuring that he is reportedly ‘fine.’
The nature of the loud bangs and their source remain unclear, prompting a thorough investigation by local authorities and the Secret Service.
The rally was cut short following the incident, with supporters expressing both concern and relief upon hearing the positive update on Trump’s condition.
