OPPOSITION MP Dr Roodal Moonilal says that Mayaro MP Rushton Paray’s had used a limousine intended for Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar in the Bahamas years ago.
Speaking at the STAR team meeting at Hillview College in Tunapuna on Thursday night, he told the public of an event which occurred in 2016.
Dr Moonilal said Persad-Bissessar was awarded a global medal for her contribution to politics and development in the Bahamas.
He said Dr Tim Goopesingh, the Oropouche West MP Vidia Gayadeen-Gopeesingh and Saddam Hosein, Paray and himself had accompanied Persad-Bissessar to the Bahamas.

Dr Moonilal said, “Upon arriving at the Bahamas International Airport, we saw a big black limousine and this gentleman told us this was for the Opposition Leader of Trinidad and Tobago and former prime minister. Upon hearing this, we left and flagged down a taxi paying US$40 to the hotel.”
On arrival at the hotel, the limousine pulled up to the lobby and they went to receive the Persad-Bissessar, however, it was the MP for Mayaro Rushton Paray who came out of it.
Dr Moonilal said upon seeing this, he viewed this as a sign. And upon inquiry, Persad -Bissessar also had to pay US$40 USD to get to the hotel.
He said on confronting the Mayaro MP , he laughed it off.
Dr Moonilal recalled Paray’s words, “I thought they were referring to me so I jumped in the car and gone.”
The Oropouche East MP said that his colleague’s action was a breach of protocol.
He said, “It is improper, it is ethical and that was the first sign we think we should have seen, that this fella was up to some trick. If you could do that then, what is now?”
Dr Moonilal said, “Today I listened with a heavy heart to hear some of the videos they put up saying we have skeletons in the closet and we are not fit and proper. That is why they are the PNM B team because that is the PNM narrative.”
He said, “We have no skeleton in the closet. What we have are battle scars. And you can only have battle scars when you are fighting. The PNM will not attack any mickey mouse. They will not attack Daffy Duck and Goofy and Minnie Mouse.”
He said, “They will attack a lion, a dragon, a princess warrior. You think the PNM has time to attack them.”
Meanwhile, Dr Moonilal reminded Paray and his team that when Basdeo Panday formed the government with Mervyn Assam (who was present at the Star meeting) in 1995, he was before the court with criminal charges and later jailed for corruption.
He said, “Those were his scars.”

Dr Moonilal said, “In nine years I have been in opposition, and not once has any police officer ever questioned me… on anything for my conduct as an MP.
“I ask Paray and his team do not vomit the PNM narrative. If you have nothing to say, say nothing.”
He again called on UNC members to go and vote on Saturday as it was only the STAR team could deliver.
