A victim reported to police that during the period December 2021 to April 2022, they paid sums totalling $224,625, to an attorney for provision of the legal services after they were led to believe the attorney was in a position to assist.

Subsequent checks with the High Court allegedly revealed that the attorney did not provide the legal services as promised and attempts to have the money refunded to the victim proved futile.

A report was made to the Fraud Squad and an investigation launched into the matter.
