Member of Parliament for Chaguanas West Dinesh Rambally condemns the attempted robbery at the Charlieville Masjid.
In a media release on Wednesday, he called for swift justice for the perpetrators of the act which happened in the holy period of Ramadan.
Rambally condemned the brazen attack on the place of worship. He said that such acts not only violate the sanctity of the Masjid but also undermine the values of peace, tolerance, and respect cherished by the community.
He said, “This cowardly act of violence is unacceptable, especially during Ramadan,”
Rambally said, “I strongly condemn this heinous act and call for swift and decisive action to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Rambally said police swift actions ensured the safety of those present at the Masjid.
He said that no one should ever feel threatened or unsafe while practicing their faith, highlighting the importance of protecting the rights and freedoms of all citizens, regardless of their religious beliefs.
Rambally to called for increased security measures at all places of worship and urged the Ministry of National Security to prioritise the development of a comprehensive plan to address the ongoing crime wave plaguing the nation.
He said, “As the Member of Parliament for Chaguanas West, I stand in solidarity with the members of the Charlieville mosque and the wider Muslim community.”
Rambally said, “Together, let us condemn violence in all its forms and work towards building a society where everyone can live without fear and prejudice.”
