FIVE robbery suspects are detained after a highway chase by police..
According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Thursday around 6.15 pm on Wednesday, PC Joseph and PC Dass of the Central Division Task Force (CDTF), Area South, were on mobile patrol along Rivulet Road, Couva, when they spotted a white Nissan Tiida, matching the
description of a vehicle reported to be involved in a recent robbery.
The officers pursued and eventually intercepted the vehicle along the north- bound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, in the vicinity of the tunnel.
There were five male occupants in the vehicle, including two locals and three Venezuelans. When officers searched the car they found one Ruger Pistol with a magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition.
The five men, a 24-year old and 30-year-old from Laventille, and three Venezuelans 23, 24, and 25, all from Carib Street, San Fernando, were arrested and taken to the Couva Police Station.
