IN exercises over the weekend, police seized guns, ammunition and held a man driving a stolen car. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) issued four releases on Monday giving the following details:
Three men were charged with possession of cocaine, possession of ammunition and possession of firearm in separate incidents on Sunday.
On Saturday, between 9 am and 7 pm officers of the Southern Division Task Force paid attention to drug blocks and other hot spot areas.
During the exercise, several suspicious vehicles were also stopped and searched.
During the search, a 30-year-old man was allegedly found to have 10.5 grammes of cocaine. Shaquille Ifill, of Navet Road, San Fernando, was charged by PC Loutan with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
A 23-year-old, of Log Wood Park, Scarborough, was allegedly found in possession of four rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition. Nathaniel Simmons was charged by PC Mohammed for Possession of Ammunition.
In another incident, a 40-year-old man from George Village, Tableland, was allegedly found in possession of a gun and ammunition. Andre Ascivero was charged by PC Jugmohan with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.
The three men are expected to appear before a magistrate on Monday.
In Diego Martin
A Diego Martin man is assisting police with their investigation into the possession of a gun, ammunition and other prohibited items.
On Sunday night, officers of the West End Police Station, the Criminal Investigations Department, the Gang and Intelligence Unit and the Western Divisional Task Force acting on information executed a search warrant at a house on Covigne Road, Diego Martin.
During the search, officers allegedly discovered one nine-millimetre pistol with four rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition, three rounds of 5.56 ammunition, two bulletproof vests, one bulletproof vest carrying case, one ski mask, and two balaclava face masks.
The man was cautioned and taken to the West End Police Station for processing.
Driving a stolen vehicle
A 39-year-old man was arrested for having a motor vehicle which was reported stolen.
A roadblock exercise was conducted in the Northern Division, Area North last night.
During the exercise, a 39-year-old man from Sangre Grande was allegedly found in possession of a purple Nissan Tiida vehicle that was reported stolen on August 4, 2019, in the St James Police Station district.
The man was arrested and is currently assisting police with their investigation.
Guns, bullets, weed in abandoned apartments
Officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force and Besson Street Police Station conducted a walk-through exercise in East Port of Spain and several items of evidential value were discovered.
On November 4, during a crime eradication exercise, officers conducted an exercise through abandoned apartments, open lots and along inconspicuous locations.
During the search, officers allegedly unearthed one 5.56 ammunition, three rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition, and two plastic bags containing 87 grammes of marijuana.
