PRESIDENT Christine Kangaloo has declared that November 12 be a public holiday for the celebration of the Hindu festival of lights – Divali.
In a release the Office of the Prime Minister – Communications – stated: “In accordance with the provisions of Section 4 (1) of the Public Holidays and Festivals Act, Chapter 19:05, Her Excellency, Christine Carla Kangaloo, O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, on the advice of the Cabinet, has declared Sunday November 12, 2023 as the date of the public holiday in recognition of the Festival of Divali.”
