DRESSED in police tactical wear, a man fired several shots at a businessman on Sunday.
Reports are that Shiam Balla, 21, was at the front of his tyre shop at Jerningham Railway Road, Cunupia when a man allegedly exited the rear passenger seat of a white Toyota Axio, dressed in police tactical wear and armed with a firearm.
He approached Balla and fired several shots directly at him, hitting him about the body.
The suspect escaped along Bridal Road in the vehicle.
The incident occurred at around 7 am on Sunday.
Balla was taken to Chaguanas Health Facility by private vehicle where he was being treated.
The incident was captured on CCTV.
Massy Stores, St Ann’s robbed
A robbery that occurred at popular supermarket hain Massy Stores, St Ann’s caused the store to be closed on Sunday.
According to police reports, at around 6.20 am prior to opening time at 7 am, five masked men entered the compound at Cascade Road.
The bandits tied up five employees.
One of the victims was forced to open two safes from which the bandits took money from.
They escaped in a silver Tiida.
Massy Stores in a statement on Sunday said the affected employees were receiving the necessary care and the health and safety of the team and customers remained a priority.
On Sunday, Massy Stores posted on social media, an announcement that the St. Ann’s branch was closed and encouraged customers to instead visit the Maraval and French Street branches.
