Hospital Horror
A 29-year-old Manzanilla man was fatally shot on the compound of the Arima General Hospital on Monday morning.
Reports are that Marvin Safe entered the hospital compound and as he passed the security booth a Nissan X-Trail pulled up next to him and the occupants opened fire.
Patients and staff at the hospital said they heard rapid gunfire.
Safe was dead at the scene.
Policeman, wife robbed, gun taken
A retired police officer and his wife were robbed during a home invasion off Warren Road in Cunupia on Sunday.
Investigators said the 60-year-old man and his 53-year-old wife were accosted by three men around 6.30 pm. They were ordered to lie on the floor and their hands and feet were bound by the intruders.
The bandits stole about $2,500 in cash and s quantity of jewelry. They also found the retired police officer’s black Smith and Wesson gun with 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The criminals made their escape in a white Nissan Almera.
PC Backan and a team of officers responded after the couple managed to free themselves and call the police.
San Juan home invasion
Three men broke into the home of a 36-year-old woman and tied her up at Calvary Circular Hill in San Juan around 11. 30 pm on Sunday.
Her hands and feet were tied and the men ransacked the house and got cellphones and a safe with $2,000 cash, jewellery, personal documents and a DVR for the CCTV cameras.
Police said the bandits pried open the burglarproofing to gain access to the house.

9-year-old shot, father killed
In another home invasion, Carlton Elias was killed and his nine-year-old daughter shot on Sunday night in Caura.
Police said two masked gunmen stormed the house around 11.30 pm after Elias arrived at his Tumbason Road home.
The men dressed in camouflage made their way to the living room and fired several shots at Elias while his daughter who was with him was wounded.
Elias died at the scene and the girl was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope for treatment.
2 women shot
Two women were shot while liming in Cumuto on Sunday morning.
Police said a 31-year-old woman from Blue Basin in Diego Martin was shot in her face, left thigh and abdomen. She is in critical condition at the EWMSC.
While her 36-year-old friend was shot in the left hand.
Scrap iron dealer shot dead
Kerdell Marcano, 27, of John Trace in Claxton Bay, was killed when gunmen opened fire on Sunday night.
The scrap iron dealer was in the company of other people on the ground floor of an incomplete two-storey structure when a gold-coloured Nissan X-Trail pulled up and the occupants opened fire.
Officers of the St Margaret’s Police Station responded and found the body of Marcano at the scene of the shooting.
A 31-year-old woman was wounded and taken to hospital for treatment.
Man jumps into sea
An unidentified man jumped into the waters of the Gulf of Paria from near the Breakfast Shed on Wrightson Road in Port of Spain on Monday.
After 1 pm a man of Indian descent walked to the edge of the water and jumped in, eyewitnesses said.
Fishermen who were on a pirogue nearby, saw the man jumped into the water and threw a flotation device for him. He refused to hold on to it.
After he drowned his body was taken out of the water by the fishermen.
