PARANG on Nelson Island takes place Saturday (December 7).
It will be the fourth Annual Ponche de Crème and Parang on Nelson Island Heritage Site and guests will be treated to performances by nine-time National Parang Champions Los Alumnos de San Juan, young and vibrant band Los Sonidos and a special guest appearance by the Incredible Myron B.
In addition to the entertainment, patrons will also be treated to a tour and new photographic exhibition tracing Nelson island’s past as a holiday getaway, detention centre, a quarantine centre and a military outpost, according to a release from National Trust of Trinidad Tobago.
It stated, “Its former occupiers include Indian indentured labourers, Black Power Movement leaders, German Jews that fled persecution, labour leader Tubal Uriah “Buzz” Butler and British and American military personnel.”
Tickets for Ponche-de-crème and Parang can be bought online through Sun Tixx.com and through Sun Tixx Express at all NLCB locations nationwide.
Tickets cost $200 for National Trust members and $225 for Non-members and the price includes the Water Taxi fare, a welcome drink of Ponche de Crème and the island tour.
Local delicacies will be on sale, and patrons are invited to bring their coolers and reusable cups.
Patrons from South Trinidad can board the Water Taxi in San Fernando before it departs for Port of Spain at 12.30 p.m.
In Port-of-Spain the Water Taxi will depart at 2 p.m. for Nelson Island and return at 6 p.m.
