OPPOSITION Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar intends to ask Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley to launch a full public enquiry into “the abduction” of Trinidad and Tobago firearms dealer Brent Thomas.

She made the announcement at the Monday Night Forum in Fyzabad. She asked how could the Barbados police kidnap Thomas and put him on a CARICOM aircraft?

Persad-Bissessar said she was writing for answers.

Thomas won a constitutional claim against the State of Trinidad and Tobago after he was taken from a hotel room in Barbados and handed over to Trinidad and Tobago Police and brought to this country where he was charged with possession of illegal firearms.

The Attorney General has since filed an appeal.

Persad-Bissessar said she was asking Mottley to launch a full public enquiry into the Thomas affair in Barbados since no answers were coming from Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley. She described Mottley as her sister and a brilliant woman.

She said, “In the interest of the peoples of our two nations –  Barbados and T&T –  I call upon you Prime Minister of Barbados to initiate a full public enquiry into this matter.”

Earlier, Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal said that he was told that not even the Secretary General of CARICOM knew that a Regional Security System plane was used to transport Thomas back to Trinidad. He said the plane belonged to CARICOM.
