LOVE, unity and sacrifice.
These are the values from Jesus Christ that have inspired billions across the globe over the ages and never gets old.
Member of Parliament for Chaguanas West Dinesh Rambally on Thursday, extended Holy Thursday greetings to the Christian community.
Although not a public holiday, Holy Thursday marks the significance of the “Last Supper” that Jesus had with his disciples before he was crucified which is reflected on the public holiday Good Friday.
Rambally said the reverential day of Holy Thursday was a reminder of the values of love, unity and sacrifice that are also much needed today.
He said, “As we come together in reverence and solidarity, let us celebrate these values and hold our loved ones near. The Easter weekend is a time for reflection and gratitude, and I hope that we, as a vibrant and diverse community, can embrace and respect the beliefs, customs, and traditions of all our neighbours.
“May the spirit of Holy Thursday and the upcoming Easter Sunday bring joy, rejuvenation, and hope into your lives. Here’s to a deeply meaningful and blessed weekend for each and every one of you.”
While Sunday is dubbed Resurrection Sunday, the day Christians believe Jesus was resurrected from the dead, the Easter holiday extends into Monday of next week.
