BY the end of April into the first week in May, Trinidad and Tobago should have its Mid-Year Budgetary review.
Speaking at a virtual press conference on Monday, Finance Minister Colm Imbert said while the recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) report would give a window as to what may be the outcome of the upcoming mid-year review, his would be far more focused.
Imbert said, “I will be reporting on income and expenditure. I will be looking at trends, I will be looking at what we think the fiscal outturn would be and also, I will be giving a report of some kind on progress being made in certain key areas like the Revenue Authority and things like that.”
When Budget 2022/2023 was announced last September, the total revenue was expected to be $56.175 billion and expenditure $57.685 billion, with Imbert noting, “if all goes according to plan, our fiscal accounts in 2023 will be close to balance with a deficit of $1.510 billion or 0.8 % of GDP.”
