AN off-duty policeman who arrested a female traffic warden on a major street of the capital city has been suspended. He was stopped by the warden and the confrontation was captured on video that went viral on social media.
This was confirmed by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) who stated in a press release on Monday that the officer who was off duty at the time was suspended from duty by Acting Commissioner of Police Erla Christopher.
The officer has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation into the incident that was shared widely on social media shortly after midday on Monday.
The Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) is currently investigating the incident.
The video which is over seven minutes long shows the traffic warden being physically accosted by the police officer and the action attracting a lot of attention from passersby along Frederick Street, Port of Spain with many expressing disbelief.
