DURING the long festive weekend, all persons can access 24/7 care healthcare at the Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments of the general hospitals and district health facilities.
However, the public should note that all health centres will be closed on both public holidays, the Ministry of Health stated in an advisory on Saturday.
The public is also being reminded to celebrate responsibly during the festive season.
The Ministry of Health encourages the following:
- For persons with pre-existing chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, reduce the intake of salt and sugary drinks to avoid the development of complications;
- Make the healthier choice when celebrating by incorporating fruits and vegetables in your meals;
- If consuming alcohol, do so in moderation;
- Practice proper hygiene and food safety when preparing, cooking, storing and purchasing food; and
- Immunocompromised persons are encouraged to wear a mask at large gatherings to avoid contracting Covid-19 or influenza
