THREE men from the Beetham and Barataria who were held with a loaded gun in a car in 2018 have each been sentenced to four years’ hard labour.
Dominic Alcantara, of 22nd Street Beetham Gardens, Rakin Small Small, of Tenth Street Barataria and Darren Stewart, of Phase Four Beetham, were charged for being in the possession of a revolver and six rounds of .38 ammunition.
They appeared before Senior Magistrate Brian Dabideen in the Port of Spain B court on Friday. They were sentenced to four years’ each for being in the possession of a firearm and ammunition. The sentences are to run concurrently.
They were held on August 9, 2018, near to the Lighthouse in Port of Spain by officers who spotted a gold-coloured Almera the men were in.
The police were informed that the car was involved in a robbery.
The men were stopped and officers found the gunl loaded with six bullets in the air filter compartment of the engine.
The trio were charged by PC Bryan Guevara.
