The letter dated November 2, 2022, referred to a Facebook post on the page Former Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith on September 8, 2022, stating that Griffith claimed that he was promised $45 million to prosecute the political opponents of Rowley.

Alexander wrote: “The former commissioner indicated that he was approached by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and informed that the aforementioned sums would be paid to him by the prime minister for the aforementioned purpose.

“In the release the former commissioner has not to date disclosed whether investigation had been commenced by the former head of the investigative arm of the State and whether he had gathered any evidence against the unnamed political opponents.”

He said that the credibility and criminality of several people who hold high public offices were called into question.

Alexander said, “Apart from that the untenable position of the two various arms of the state appears to have been blurred.

“On the face of it, there is information of offences that would suggest that there may be misbehaviour in public office.”
