PORT-OF-SPAIN – POLICE held 42 people including women and minors during a sting operation early Monday.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the women and girls had no identification documents on them and many of them were non-nationals of TT.
The operation was conducted by Special Operation Response Team at Lady Chancellor Heights in St Ann’s.
The TTPS said the 22 women and girls were suspected to be engaged in lewd dancing, prostitution and child endangerment.
Police also arrested 20 men and seized a firearm, ammunition and a large quantity of cash.
Police Commissioner Gary Griffith visited the scene along with members of the Counter Trafficking, Child Protection and Victim and Witness Support Unit, a release stated.
