THE Tropical Storm Warning for Trinidad and Tobago due to the passage of Potential Tropical Cyclone #2 has been discontinued.

At 11 pm on Tuesday, the Meteorological Service of T&T (TTMS) stated though that an Adverse Weather Alert Yellow was now in effect.

It stated, “At 11 pm tonight, the centre of Potential Tropical Cyclone Two (PTC2) was located near 10.9ºN latitude 62.8ºW longitude which is 175 km to the west of the Trinidad.”

TTMS noted that tropical storm conditions were no longer expected.

It stated, “However, a moist and unstable atmosphere exists and convergence behind the disturbance (PTC#2) is still likely to produce persistent periods of rainfall and patches of heavy showers and/or thunderstorms.”

There can be gusty winds in excess of 55 km/h and rainfall accumulations in excess of 25 mm in some areas, the TTMS stated.

This comes on the heels of primary schools being closed on Tuesday and government offices and other establishments closing early after the warning was in effect until 5 pm on Wednesday.
