THE Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) has expressed disappointment with the actions of former employees threatening legal action over tax return forms.

This came after the company let go some 631 workers in 2018 due to a restructuring exercise, yet the few that accepted Voluntary Separation Packages have now threatened legal action if no new  TD4 forms were not given to them in 21 days.

TSTT in a statement on Friday stated, “The Company is engaged in ongoing communication with the attorneys representing the group and has not faltered in providing timely updates on the status and availability of the revised TD4 forms. TSTT is working closely with the Board of Inland Revenue to make the forms available in a timely manner and the group’s attorneys are kept abreast of all developments in this regard.”

TSTT stated, “It has no interest in prolonging this matter. The company has given the group its full support and dedicated resources to bring this matter to a swift resolution. TSTT gives the assurance that it is working diligently to provide the revised TD4 forms to the group’s attorneys in the shortest possible time.”

The company also rejected allegations of non-payments to the Inland Board of Revenue and all related claims with “contempt” made by ex-workers.

TSTT stated, “Since the matter is before the court, TSTT will refrain from commenting further.”

Another 468 workers received termination via email notifications from their place of employment effective from June 1, 2022.
