Radio/TV Jaagriti CEO Lokesh Maharaj Dies

THE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Radio and TV Jaagriti Lokesh Maharaj has passed away. He was 40.

He was the son of the acting secretary general of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) Vijay Maharaj.

Maharaj passed away on Friday morning. This was confirmed by legal adviser of the SDMS Dinesh Rambally to AZP News.

A statement on the SDMS Facebook page read: “With great sadness, we announce the passing of Shri Lokesh Maharaj who left the mortal world to ascend to the realm of Shri Krishna.”

Rambally said, “Lokesh was a son of the Hindu community, a son of Radio and TV Jaagriti and most of all Trinidad and Tobago.”

Maharaj leaves to morning is wife Preeta and son Keshav.

He was the son of Vijay and Tammy Maharaj, brother of Bheeshan and Badarinarayan (Ajay).

He was also the Grandson of Satnarayan (Sat) and Shanti Maharaj (both deceased) Pundit Ramnarine and Gumatee Dube (both deceased).

Maharaj was at one time a teacher at the Vishnu Boy’s Hindu College.

Rambally expressed gratitude on behalf of Maharaj’s family and the SDMS for the outpouring of support and the expressions of condolences.

Maharaj’s grandfather the former secretary general of the SDMS Sat Maharaj passed away in November 2019.

Rambally said arrangements are being put in place to perform the Antyesti Sanskaar or final rites for the departed soul.
