Traffic Disruptions: Couva, Morvant

THERE will be traffic disruptions along the Southern Main Road, Mc Bean, Couva 31.5 km mark from April 12.

A release from the Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) stated the disruption will be along the Junction of Southern Main Road and Calcutta Road No 1.

This is to facilitate the replacement of a cylinder crossing from 7 pm to 5 am from April 12 to 13, the release stated.

The following alternative route is available:

• Camden Road, Base Road, Calcutta Road No 2 Ext, Calcutta Road No 2, Calcutta Road No 1, Sonny Ladoo Trace.

The ministry stated, “Local traffic ONLY would be allowed to traverse up to the work zone and not beyond.”

Motorists are therefore advised to proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers; comply with instructions from police officers or flag persons on-site to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic; be aware of heavy equipment in the work zone and entering/exiting the site and drive at a reduced speed and proceed with caution, on approaching the work zone.

Rehabilitation works Morvant Junction

In addition, commuters will also face temporary traffic disruptions due to rehabilitation works along the Eastern Main Road, in the vicinity of Morvant Junction and Lady Young Road, between Lady Young Avenue to Arneaud Avenue.

The ministry stated that work will begin on Monday (today) and is expected to end on April 22 from 7 pm to 5 am.

However, no works will be executed for the Easter weekend from April 15 to 18.

Therefore, motorists are advised to proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers; drive at a reduced speed when approaching the work zone; comply with instructions from police officers or flag persons on-site to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic; beware of heavy equipment entering the site; drive with caution on all milled (possibly)  uneven surfaces.
