TWO teenaged girls and an Arima man are expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate on Monday to answer charges of kidnapping and robbery with violence.

Celine Chartoo, 18, of Fyzabad, a 17-year-old of Penal and Kevin Antoine, 30, of Arima, were charged for an incident that allegedly occurred on February 9.

A taxi-driver reported to police that while plying his Nissan Tiida vehicle for hire, three passengers, one male and two females, entered his vehicle on the Fyzabad taxi-stand in Siparia and asked to be taken to Market Road, Fyzabad.

It is alleged that upon arrival, the male suspect pointed a firearm at the victim and told him to stop the car, which he did.

The victim told police he was then ordered out of his vehicle and made to lie on the ground, after which the man then struck him to the back of his head with the said gun.

The taxi-driver also reported that the man then told him that he had seen their faces and they had to deal with him.

The taxi-driver told police that he started to beg for his life and he placed in the trunk of the vehicle.

One of the suspects then allegedly drove away with the vehicle.

The victim reported that he was able to pick the lock from the trunk, following which he jumped out of the said trunk unto the roadway and started to run when he heard a loud explosion.

The suspects allegedly drove away with the said vehicle, valued at $45,000, along Gower’s Well Road.

WPC Sonnylal continued enquiries and subsequently arrested the three suspects.
