ARIMA – POLICE have arrested five men who were found at a marijuana field in Arima on Friday.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in a release noted that the men held ranged in ages between 25 to 70 years old.
It stated that officers of the Northern Division Task Force, Area East, and of the Special Investigations Unit, acting on intelligence, proceeded about 450 metres into a forested area off Noreiga Trace in Arima.
There they found a marijuana field and a camp with 150 fully grown trees and four kilogrammes of dried marijuana.
The five men were in the camp.
All marijuana and the trees were destroyed.
In a separate incident, a rifle and a quantity of ammunition were discovered by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force during an anti-crime exercise conducted on Friday in the Laventille district.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said officers, acting on information, proceeded to a track off Richardson Lane, where they observed a group of men.
Upon seeing the officers, the men ran off into different directions.
A search of the area resulted in officers finding one rifle and a black plastic bag containing three rounds of ammo.
