PARIA Fuel Trading Company is confirming that the bodies of three of the divers sucked into a sea line on Friday were recovered on Monday evening.
A release at 6.45 pm, stated that the bodies were recovered around 5.55 pm and the families of the deceased were “notified simultaneously at 6 pm by Paria.”
Following the incident after 2 pm on Friday, Fyzal Kurban, Rishi Nagassar, Yusuf Henry and Kazim Ali Jr. were missing. Christopher Boodram was the only diver rescued and is said to be at the San Fernando General Hospital. They were working for the contracting firm LMCS Limited.
Paria did not state which bodies were recovered.
The release stated that attempts to retrieve the fourth body were still ongoing.
It stated, “Paria Trading Company Limited (Paria) joins the families in mourning their loss and is continuing to provide support and counselling as they deal with this profound loss.
“The four men were part of a LMCS Limited crew conducting an underwater maintenance exercise at #36 Sealine riser on Berth #6 at Paria, Pointe-a-Pierre when the incident occurred.
“No effort was spared in the attempts to treat the bodies with the utmost respect during the recovery operation.
“A full investigation into the incident will be undertaken to understand the root cause of the incident.
Paria joins LMCS Limited and the families in their time of grief.”
