THE number of active Covid-19 positive cases in Trinidad and Tobago has crossed 20,000, the highest since the start of the pandemic.
And six more people have died from Covid-19 related on Saturday.
The Ministry of Health in its latest update (#991) also reported 867 new positive cases.
The ministry also stated that 114, 938 boosters have been administered while 49.6% of the population of Trinidad and Tobago is fully vaccinated.
The six deaths included:
- 3 elderly men;
- 2 elderly women;
- 1 middle-aged woman.
Four out of the six had multiple comorbidities, while one had only one comorbidity and the other person had no known medical conditions.
Some of the comorbidities included diabetes, hypertension, dementia, asthma, Addison’s disease, hernia and a history of strokes.

Patients in the parallel healthcare system who were not fully vaccinated were 12,164 or 84.1%, while 2,301 or 15.9% were fully vaccinated based on data from July 22, 2021, to January 19, 2022.
For the year 2022:
January: 535 deaths
February 1: 8 deaths, 470 cases;
February 2: 11 deaths, 660 cases;
February 3: 10 deaths, 638 cases;
February 4: 15 deaths, 581 cases;
February 5: 6 deaths, 867 cases
