THE PCR testing machine at the San Fernando General Hospital (SGH) is back in full service since Thursday.
“But, there would have been maybe a 48 to 72-hour lag in non-emergency cases,” said Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh, in response to an Urgent Question by Caroni East Dr Rishad Seecheran in the House of Representatives on Friday.
Dr Seecheran enquired when the PCR machine housed at the San Fernando General Hospital would resume service.
The health minister said, “We prioritised PCR testing for patients in the hospital setting, especially those in the Emergency Departments and hospital so therefore no procedures were delayed.”
However, when asked how the downtime had affected the daily confirmed Covid-19 tally, Deyalsingh said, “We outsourced the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Trinidad Public Health Lab and to the private Sector to minimise inconvenience.”
