DEOKIE Maraj, who was kidnapped along with her husband Narine Maharaj over the weekend, has been found.
She was found on Tuesday. Her husband was able to escape on Sunday.
Police reported that nine suspects have been held in connection with the kidnapping.
The suspects, ages 16 to 50 are from the Northern and Eastern Divisions.
Narine Maraj, 61 and his wife Deokie Maraj, 52, were taken from their home at gunpoint by five assailants from St Helena on Saturday and a ransom demand of $2 million was made for their release. The couple’s silver Ford Focus was also taken by the kidnappers.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in a media release on Tuesday evening stated that a coordinated approach was adopted by investigators under the supervision of Acting Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob and the extensive investigations included officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Eastern Division Task Force, the Northern Division Task Force, the Special Operations Response Team Operations and Intelligence, Canine Branch, the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, the Special Investigations Unit and the Air Support Unit.
