MINISTER of Finance Colm Imbert has requested that State agencies accept cotton notes until December 31.
In a tweet on Friday, Imbert said due to complaints he has consulted with line ministers to request that old notes be accepted until the cut-off date.
He made reference to Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA), Public Transport Services Commission (PTSC) and National Petroleum (NP).
The Tweet stated:
I have noted complaints that State Agencies like WASA, PTSC and NP have taken decisions to stop accepting old small denomination banknotes before the official cut-off date of Dec 31st. In consultation with the line Ministers, I have requested that these decisions be rescinded.
