A CARIBBEAN Airlines flight from Miami bound for Piarco International Airport had to be diverted to Puerto Rico after a passenger dies on board.
In a press release on Tuesday at 9am, Caribbean Airlines confirmed that flight BW 483 of December 13 was diverted.
It stated, “Due to restrictions in the territory and other regulatory issues, a second relief aircraft was sent from Trinidad to Puerto Rico to bring the passengers to Trinidad, however, unfortunately, there were mitigating circumstances, outside of the control of the airline and the second aircraft was unable to leave Puerto Rico.”
Caribbean Airlines is assuring all stakeholders that it was doing all within its control to resolve the situation and to get the passengers to their final destinations.
One passenger told TV6 on Tuesday that they were informed that a person passed away on the plane.
Reports also indicated that since Puerto Rico was not a regular destination of CAL, a number of arrangements have to be made to get the passengers to Trinidad.
