A woman is among four people assisting police after a firearm and ammunition were seized during an exercise in Northern Division earlier on Friday.
According to police reports, officers received intelligence that led to the execution of several search warrants in the Malabar and Pinto.
During a search at a house in Malabar, the officers discovered one nine-millimetre pistol along with a magazine containing 16 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition.
The occupants of the house were detained pending further investigations.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is thanking members of the public for information and assisting in taking guns out of the hands of would-be criminals.
The exercise was spearheaded by ACP Samaroo, Snr Supt Ramphall, coordinated by ASP Powder, Insp Pitt supervised by Sgt La Pierre, Cpls Forde and Superville and other members of the Nothern Division Task Force, Area West.
