SEVEN gunmen opened fire on two security officers resulting in the death of one officer and injuries to the other on Thursday.
Reports are that around 12.10pm two security officers of Thor security were conducting sales in a panel van along the Valencia Old Road when on reaching the vicinity of the San Pablo Road Valencia, they were confronted by the gunmen who opened fire on them.
One officer died at the scene and the other officer sustained injuries to his legs and was conveyed to the conveyed to the Sangre Grande hospital.
E999 officers responded along with the Eastern Task Force. ASP Fitzworme of the Eastern Division and ASP Douglas of the Homicide Bureau along with a party of officers from the Eastern Division, SORT, Northern Division and the Air Support were on the scene up until late Thursday evening.
The suspects were being pursued in the forest, north of the San Pablo Road.
Three firearms and other items were recovered. DCP Jacob and Supt Alexander also visited the scene.
