HUNDREDS gathered in and around the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain on Saturday night to celebrate Trinidad and Tobago’s 57th Independence from British rule.
The Ansa McAl group of companies sponsored a 20-minute fireworks show entitled Illumination that drew “ahhs” and “ohhs” from the crowd, amazing from tots to teenagers to their parents and even grandparents.
Music trucks, colourfully lit up and stationed at different locations around the QPS, together with banks of speaker boxes, blasted soca and calypso hits that have become dear to Trinis over the past several decades.
Many gathered, some in large groups, with the kids playing under the watchful eyes of adults from early to catch the display, that saw 15,000 fireworks shells set off, from 8 p.m. for a 20-minute amazing show.
