All Senators Can Now Be In Chamber

MINISTER of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr Amery Browne is  presently not in the country and as such a temporary senator was appointed to act in his place.

On Monday, Ndale  Young took his oath in the Senate following the appointment by President Paula-Mae Weekes acting on advise of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.

His appointment comes into effect from  Monday and is continuing announced Senate President Christine Kangaloo.

At the beginning of the Senate sitting, Kangaloo also announced changes to the Upper House relating to Covid-19 protocols.

She said, “Effective, today, the attendance of all members in the chamber would be immediately revert to the original accommodations arrangements. Accordingly, all senators can now be physically present in the chamber while strictly observing the physical distance requirements.”

Kangaloo  added  that this also meant that the three minutes grace period for  assembly will be discontinued.

“All other Covid-19 measures at the Parliament remain in effect,” she said.
