TO date, there are 75 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 Delta variant of concern in Trinidad and Tobago with 26 new cases being reported on Thursday.
The Ministry of Health in its daily update also gave a breakdown of its cases.
The ministry stated that of the 75 cases, 25 had no travel history, 12 cases were exposed to persons with flu-like symptoms while the remaining 13 had no contact.
“One case is under epidemiological investigation,” the ministry added.
The presence of the Delta variant was confirmed via gene sequencing at the laboratory of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of the West Indies.
All patients have been placed in isolation until the enhanced discharge criteria for persons with Covid-19 variants of concern is achieved. Contact tracing, testing and quarantining of contacts have also been initiated, the Ministry of Health stated.
