A MAN known as “Sprang” was shot dead today (Thursday) in Belmont.
Sherwin Mervin Williams, 45, aka Sprang, of Vincent Brown St, Gonzales was killed at around 7.25am.
Police reports are that the victim was sitting on a plastic container under a tent at Chocolate Alley, Gonzales, Belmont in the vicinity of Divalicious Mini Mart.
A heavily tinted grey Toyota Altis stopped alongside the tent and two men armed with firearms alighted and several loud explosions were heard.
The deceased fell to the ground with multiple gunshot wounds about the body.
Acting Cpl Pierre and PC St Louis of Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) who were on patrol nearby responded and secured the scene.
Checks were made in the area for the vehicle and assailants without success. The body was viewed by DMO Dr Padmore and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Complex.
The scene was processed by CSI’s WPC Aleong and PC Ali. Also on the scene were ASP Ramesar and a party from IATF, Insp Sooklalsingh, Insp Forde-Jack and CID party of officers including acting Cpl Mohammed and officers from the Belmont Police Station.
