A 55-year-old gardener has been charged with one count of sexually touching a child.
A release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Wednesday, stated that the suspect was granted $150,000 bail with a surety and ordered to have no communication with the 13-year-old girl.
The accused, a resident of Woodland, Siparia, appeared before Magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Courtand was instructed to report to his nearest police station once per week as part of bail conditions.
According to a police report, on September 2nd 2021, a 12-year-old girl was seated in a parked motor vehicle when a man allegedly touched her on her shoulder and left breast.
The incident was reported to the Southern Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) following which WPC Hamilton took lead of the investigation.
However, upon enquiry, the suspect was apprehended and charged with the offence child on September 14.
Investigations were headed by acting Superintendent of Police Claire Guy-Alleyne and supported by acting Insp Khan of the Southern CPU.
