Caratal Man Charged for Uncle’s Murder

THE nephew of Himraj Bedassie, whose human skeletal remains were found last Friday, is charged with his murder.

Dylon Bedassie, 26, of Bhagwansingh Trace, Caratal, appeared at the San Fernando First Magistrates’ Court on Monday and the matter was adjourned to October 4.

The charge was laid by acting Cpl Alana Callender following the advice of the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Joan Honore-Paul, police reported.

Himraj was last seen alive walking along Cooper Grange Street, St. John’s Village, San Fernando, by a relative on August 22.

He was reported missing to the Ste Madeleine Police Station the following day. On August 31, a first instance warrant was executed on the suspect for failure to attend court to answer to a housebreaking charge.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau Region Three were subsequently able to link the accused to the disappearance of the victim after extensive investigations. Police officers went to Boissiere Trace, Gran Couva, on Friday where they found human skeletal remains believed to be that of the victim.

The investigation was spearheaded by acting Supt Sean Dhillpaul, and supervised by Insp Anil Maharaj.
